چکیده
Deoxynivalenol (DON) (also called vomitoxin) is a mycotoxin caused by pathogens that periodically contaminate crops such as maize, wheat, barley, oats, and rye, making them unusable. We explored pyrolysis process for the decontamination of vomitoxin-corn grains their transformation into value-added products. Pyrolysis was carried out in bench-scale batch reactor at maximum temperatures between 450 650 °C. This resulted total destruction DON, from 5–7 ppm raw corn to non-detectable levels treated bio-char. The effect conditions, including temperature heating rate, on conversion toxic investigated. bio-oil yield achieved °C (47 wt.%). co-products were bio-char (29 wt.%) non-condensable gases (24 Acetic acid levoglucosan two major valuable components bio-oil, corresponding 26 g/kg 13 respectively. bio-chars analyzed upgraded physical activation using CO2 900 Activation increased surface area 419 m2g−1 promoted pore development, which verified SEM. Proximate analysis illustrated stable carbon 88.8% after compared 10.9% corn. FT-IR results showed thermally unstable functional groups had been completely eliminated activation. All characterization confirmed activated has excellent potential adsorption processes. HHV gas stream 16.46 MJ/Nm3, showing application this product an energy source.

Hydrothermal Conversion of Biomass into Value- Added Products: Technology That Mimics Nature
The term “hydrothermal” comes originally from the field of geology. Hydrothermal reactions generally can be defined as reactions in the presence of aqueous solvents under high temperature and pressure. Such reactions played a very important role during formation of fossil fuels. On the basis of the natural phenomena, we have conducted a series of studies concerning hydrothermal conversion of bi...
متن کاملMicrobial Conversion of Waste Glycerol from Biodiesel Production into Value-Added Products
Biodiesel has gained a significant amount of attention over the past decade as an environmentally friendly fuel that is capable of being utilized by a conventional diesel engine. However, the biodiesel production process generates glycerol-containing waste streams which have become a disposal issue for biodiesel plants and generated a surplus of glycerol. A value-added opportunity is needed in ...
متن کاملHigh-Yield Chemical Conversion of Biomass into Biofuels and Value-Added Products
We have developed a new method to efficiently convert waste biomass (agricultural, municipal, forestry) into biofuels and value-added products. The process is completely chemical in nature, inexpensive, and produces no waste stream. The derived products are non-toxic, biodegradable substitutes for petroleum, both in motor fuels and as renewable chemical intermediates. The technology involves th...

A detailed study of main stages of a novel no-conventional process to obtain 1,3propanediol (PD) from glycerol (Gly) has been made. Initially the volumetric productivity of Gly fermentation with Klebsiella pneumoniae bacterium was optimized for one and two continuous stages, where was necessary to study the multiplicity of stable steady states for the fermentation system selecting the condition...
متن کاملValue Added Products from Oil Shale
Oil shale is more than an energy source. It is also a source for various valuable materials. These materials include pyridine, carbonate minerals, alumina, ammonium sulfate, phosphate, sulfur, uranium, vanadium, and zinc, to name a few, from which numerous value-added products can be manufactured. For example, catalysts are made from vanadium and zinc, while alumina is a widely used material fo...
